Kenneth Williams

Kenneth Williams

Ink Drawing

Kenneth Williams (b. 1969) uses a folkish style - and a color palette as bright and sunny as gumdrops - to reimagine the most neglected parts of his beloved Chicago. When he sees a vacant lot on the South or West side, he sees a possibility for beauty and transformation. Williams’ says "Artists ought to build their communities up, not tear them down.” One of the founding members of Project Onward, Williams has lived most of his life in Bronzeville, a neighborhood of historic importance to Chicago’s African-American community.
