Kareem Davis

Illustration

Kareem Davis creates both real and imagined elegant structural graphite drawings that evoke careful placement of line and form with draftsman-like qualities. Kareem’s focus is on the simple beauty of these constructions. Many works are of the Chicago Housing Projects, the majority of which have been torn down. Most of his works contain a small rendering of the Sun to show scale.

Davis has been a life-long Chicago resident and is extremely knowledgeable about the Chicago Transit Authority. When he is not drawing skyscrapers, he is rendering images of CTA L-trains and buses while enthusiastically informing his viewer of the design and function. In 2021, Kareem had a solo exhibition titled, A Draftsman’s Dream, at Western Exhibitions in Chicago.

Kareem has been an artist with Project Onward since 2015, as well as represented by Henry Boxer Gallery as of 2021. He works full time at Antique Taco, a family-run restaurant at both locations in Wicker Park and Bridgeport neighborhoods of Chicago. He proudly lives in a high rise apartment on the twentieth floor in Noble Square. He has also recently taken up light weight-lifting and dancing.
