Alfred Banks Jr.

Alfred Banks Jr.

Multimedia

Alfred Banks, was born in Chicago in 1993 to a close-knit family. Though he's always lived in the city, a deep love of nature informs Banks' artwork. Banks most often works with drawing and painting mediums, though he is interested in the constant exploration of process and materials to enhance his practice.

Most often when developing a piece, he begins with stock imagery, develops his ideas through a sketch and then does a final painting or drawing. He focuses on amplifying the beauty and narrative through this process. Animation, as well as stories and observations inspire Alfred’s work. Banks is prolific in his diligent sketching and painting; he is constantly practicing and working through ideas in his sketchbook. Banks intends to create fantastical and beautiful scenes for the viewer by pushing his use of color and details.
