On Wednesday February 8, 2016, Commonwealth Edison, more affectionally known as ComEd, hosted a

grand gathering to benefit Project Onward. Attendees included 250 ComEd key managers and Project

Onward’s Board, donors, and invited guests. The purpose of the evening was to celebrate and auction

Bridgeport-themed art created in 2015 for ComEd’s new Training Center on 35th and Iron.

Alderman Patrick Daley Thompson (11th Ward) and County Commissioner John Daley led the speakers

program, acknowledging ComEd for bringing vitality to the community of Bridgeport. They also

encouraged guests to support Project Onward. Emcee and PO Artist Elizabeth Barren welcomed the

large gathering, passionately sharing what Project Onward has meant in her life. Project Onward Board

member Wanda Lenoir noted ComEd’s contributions to Project Onward since 2014-2015 and how they

have helped the artists.

Elizabeth Barren then introduced ComEd President and CEO Anne Pramaggiore, who thanked everyone

for coming and noted that a newly commissioned exhibition would be installed at the Training Center on

February 23. She introduced the artists by name and encouraged the crowd to bid, bid, bid on the art.

President Pramaggiore’s remarks were the highlight of the evening.

The night was a success by all accounts. Guests bid more than $10,000 on the art, donated nearly

$2,000 in admissions, and commissioned at least two new works. A very good time was had by all.
